Gilbert Fletcher lives and works in New York, has exhibited in the New Orleans Museum of Art, the African American Museum in Boston, Brooklyn Museum, the Cinque Gallery and at several colleges and universities around the country. He has a BA in art education from Dillard University and a MA in Art and Design from Pratt Institute.

His Most recent series is the acclaimed Painted Voices: an Artist's Jouney in to the World of Black Writers which is a compilation of 28 protraits of the world's most celebrated writers or our time. He lectures on the series which has been touring colleges and universities since 1998.
